Four suicide bombers attacked on the headquarters of 46 Rashtriya Rifles in Kashmir’s Baramulla district Sunday evening. One BSF jawan was killed in massive gunfire between the militants and jawans near the Army camp. India Today reported two assailants were also killed.
The militants, divided in two groups, were trying enter into the Army camp from two sides but were stopped by the Indian soldiers. The camp, located in Janbazpora on the outskirts of Baramulla city, houses the headquarters of 46 Rashtriya Rifles.
The armed assailants tried to enter through a public park near the camp, but were prevented after which they took positions on the banks of the Jhelum river and tried to enter into the camp from two sides, as per Bandipora police control room. Sources said the terrorists are suspected to have entered India across the Jhelum river.

In another ceasefire violation, Pakistan Army opened fire on Indian posts across the border in the Akhnoor sector along the Line of Control — the de facto border between India and Pakistan. Heavy firing was going on when the report went live.
The attacks came a day after Defence Minister Manohar Parikar’s warning to Pakistan to stop cross-border terrorism or else India won’t hesitate to conduct more surgical strikes.
On Thursday last week, the Indian Army said it had conducted surgical strikes across the Line of Control against teams of Pakistani terrorists waiting to infiltrate into India with the aim of attacking various places in Jammu and Kashmir and also several metros.
Two weeks ago, four Pakistani terrorists had sneaked into an Army base in Uri, also in Baramulla district, and killed 19 soldiers. Security forces have been on high alert since the Uri attack.
