In a bid to teach them a lesson, angry residents of Koppal town in Karnataka pushed two municipal engineers into a water-logged pothole after an elderly motorist fell into it on Monday morning and sustained minor injuries.
Potholes and road damages have been fatal on many occasions, poor roads are a phenomenon across India, in particular, the metro cities.
Two engineers who arrived on the spot had to face the ire of the locals who had gathered in the area post the incident. Junior Engineer Sunil and another engineer jostled with the locals as they push them into the ditch. Locals held their arms and lowered them further into the muck, before helping them out.
The water filled ditch was formed when a portion of the ongoing underground drainage work on the road collapsed. The locals complained to the civic authorities on several occasions regarding the underground drainage works with no results.
