In a shocking incident, a 100-year-old woman was suspected to be sexually assaulted before murdered by unidentified assailants in Daun Kalan village near Patiala. She was sleeping on a cot outside her home.
Her family members said she used to sleep on a cot outside home. They found her body a few meters away from there Monday morning. They suspect the hands of drug addicts who roam the area, said media reports.
Police suspect the woman was sexually assaulted before the murder. A case has been registered at the Patiala (Sadar) police station. Superintendent of Police (investigations) Harvinder Singh Virk said the woman was found in a semi-naked state, adding post-mortem report was being awaited.
