The TCS World 10K run that will be organised in Bengaluru this Sunday May 15, will witness an indomitable fighting spirit hitting the roads of the city and she is Shalini Saraswathi, a quadruple amputee.

37-year-old Shalini lost all her limbs fighting against a rare bacterial infection, which led to multiple-organ failure. She continued to fight for life even after losing her unborn baby. She hopes to inspire a million of differently abled people by participating in the Open 10K category.

Shalini, deputy general manager with Firstsource Solutions, is planning to participate in the event with the aid of carbon-fibre running blades loaned from a German company called Ottobock.

Shalini’s coach Aiyappa told Times of India that he hope Shalini will be able to complete the 10K run on Sunday in around 90 minutes.

24live.in salutes Shalini for her indomitable courage and endeavour to battle out all the odds. We hope her story will be able to inspire a lot of people and will give them a ray of hope.
