Relaxing norms for advance to avail LTC, the Union Government has allowed its employees to claim the money four months in advance. A govt employee gets reimbursement of tickets for to and fro journey, in addition to leaves, when he avails LTC. As per previous rules, employees could draw LTC advance for themselves and their families 65 days in advance.
Media reports attribute the decision to a change in the Indian Railways rules to increase advance reservation booking from 60 to 120 days (excluding the date of journey) with effect from April 1 2015. Hence, time-limit for LTC advance has been increased from 65 days to 125 days for train journey. However, for travelling by air, sea or road, the time-limit remains the same 65 days only.
