The shocking moment a massive python was found curled up behind a microwave on a kitchen bench has been captured on camera.

Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers Ross McGibbon and Richie Gilbert needed to team up to remove this eight kilogram, three-metre carpet python from a Yandina home. The huge reptile was curled up on a kitchen bench, having clearly just eaten, and showed no intention to move.

After getting the python out of the house, it was released into a large tree hollow where it can safely ‘digest that huge meal’.

Carpet pythons are commonly found in Queensland and other parts of northern Australia. They are often found curled up in houses for warmth. They can grow to about three metres in length, however they are non-venomous and not considered dangerous to humans.
