A poster of UP BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya in Varanasi depicting him as ‘Lord Krishna’ has sparked a controversy. The poster also depicted CM Akhilesh Yadav, Congress’ Rahul Gandhi, BSP Chief Mayawati, Azam Khan and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi as Kauravas taking away the clothes of ‘Draupadi’ (Uttar Pradesh). The Samajwadi Party has accused the BJP of hurting the religious sentiments of the people and trying to tarnish the CM’s image. Maurya is shown on the poster with Sudarshan Chakra trying to rescue the state. The scene is a metaphorical portrayal of Mahabharata where Krishna rescues Draupati from attempts of the Kaurava brothers.
