A senior police officer was suspended for “delinquent behaviour” after a video showing him slapping an elderly man in Lucknow went viral. DIG D K Chaudhary was monitoring an anti-encroachment drive. During that course, the DIG lost his cool and slapped a poor vendor. The vendor couldn’t convince the officer as to why he was encroaching on the pavement.
Taking serious note of the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav ordered suspension of DIG D K Chowdhury.
“@yadavakhilesh orders the immediate suspension of DIG Lucknow for his delinquent behavior towards an elderly person,” the CM office tweeted.
