Taking potshots at Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan for his remarks on the “growing intolerance” in India, veteran actor and husband of BJP MP Kiran Kher chose to ask him few questions on Twitter on Monday.

Khan had said that he was “alarmed” by a number of incidents, and his wife Kiran Rao even suggested that they should probably leave the country. Khan threw his weight behind the scribes who had returned their awards recently as a mark of protest.

“As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can’t deny. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents,” he said, adding “the sense of insecurity and fear has been growing in the past six or eight months”.

To this Kher asked the 50-year-old superstar not to give up ‘hope’ and should stop spreading fear.
Anupam Kher: Dear @aamir_khan. #SatyamevaJayate u talked about evil practices but gave Hope. So even in ‘Intolerant’ times u need 2 spread Hope not Fear.

Anupam Kher: Dear @aamir_khan Presumed country has become #Intolerant. Wat do u suggest 2 millions of Indians? Leave India? Or wait till regime changes?

Speaking at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards ceremony, Khan said: “When I chat with Kiran at home, she says ‘Should we move out of India?’ That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day.

“That does indicate that there is this sense of growing disquiet, there is growing despondency apart from alarm. You feel why this is happening, you feel low. That sense does exist in me.”

Anupam Kher: Dear @aamir_khan. When did ‘Incredible India’ become ‘Intolerant India’ for you? OnDear @aamir_khan. When did ‘Incredible India’ become ‘Intolerant India’ for you? Only in the last 7-8 months? #AtithiDevoBhavah
