A mild earthquake of 3.3 magnitude hit the Kashmir Valley and the India-Nepal border region on Wednesday evening. However, no casualties were reported till the report went live.

The earthquake lasted close to five seconds, as per the Indian meteorological department. Residents rushed out of houses as panic gripped the Valley. Tremors were felt across the Kashmir Valley around 8.02 pm.

Kashmir exists in the seismic zone V and had witnessed one of the worst quakes in its history in October 2005 when more than 1300 people were killed and properties of thousands of crores were damaged.
