A shocking reality in India’s education system where Bihar school toppers failing to even answer basic questions related to their subjects. Embarrassed by the alleged academic incompetency of students, Bihar school examination board has ordered an investigation. The board has put the results of both the toppers on hold and ordered a retest for the toppers.
All the 14 toppers from arts, science and commerce will sit for a “small” re-examination on June 3.
In what has raised several doubts on the competency of Bihar’s education system, the Bihar School Examination Board has ordered a probe into the exam results and on examiners after a video allegedly showed one of the state-level toppers mispronouncing ‘Political Science’ and calling it a subject about one’s cooking skills.
Roby Rai topped in the arts stream, scoring 444 marks out of 500. However, she seemed to believe the board exams were scored out of 600, giving the impression that she was not aware of her own subjects. In addition to believing political science was about cooking skills, she also mispronounced it as “prodical science”. Science topper Saurabh Sresth also appeared to lack basic knowledge of the subject, when he failed to answer questions about sodium and electrons.
