A month after sending water by train to Latur to quench the thirst of the drought-hit region, Indian Railways has sent a bill of Rs 4 crore to the district collector.
The Railways have provided 6.20 crore litres of water to Latur. The first water train christened as ‘Jaldoot’ reached Latur on April 12, covering a distance of 342 km. Jaldoot has so far transported 62 million litres of water to the worst affected part in drought-hit Marathwada region
The Maharashtra government is sending water to the parched town. The water is purified near the region and then transported to the district, but people still complain about having to wait in line for hours for water.
